This English-language seminar is primarily intended for students of the MSc in Cognitive Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience (Module M-Psy-CP03: Grundlagenvertiefung, and Module M-Psy-KN202: Informationsverarbeitung). It may also be taken by students with relevant interests and backgrounds from the BSc/ MSc Nebenfach (e.g. B.A. PsyN-WP3) and international students, but they should be competent to read and discuss advanced psychological and psycholinguistic papers about language and communication in English.
The focus of the course is on active discussion: together, we search for, read, discuss and work with a broad range of journal articles. Since there is no specific seminar on Autism this semester, some sessions will specifically look into communication and interaction in Autism. In other cases, topics can be chosen by the participants; they could include, for example, how language(s) are learnt, how words and sentences are processed in the brain, and the challenges of research on dialogue and interaction. If you have any special interests in these or other related areas, feel free to contact me in advance.
For those students who need a grade/mark for this course, there will be an oral exam in the course of the summer (date to be confirmed).
