Test of Reading for Political Science The test of reading for Political Science takes 60 minutes. There are three authentic texts taken from books, journals or magazines. Each text is approximately 1 x A4 side followed by questions. The text or questions may include diagrams. The topics are loosely related to politics and/or social science topics. It is a test of your reading skill, not your knowledge of politics. All answers can be found in the text, either directly, or by inference. In total there are 40 questions. The different question types could be any of the following: Multiple choice; True/False/Not Given; matching answers; matching headings to paragraphs; completing sentences; completing notes; completing a summary; completing a table or chart; labelling a diagram; giving short answers to questions. Where an answer cannot be given by circling, ticking or matching, you may need to write a short response: between 3-5 words, often taken directly from the text. Responses must be in English. You may not use dictionaries – either bilingual or monolingual. Tests are graded anonymously and scores are listed by matriculation number. Please bring your THOSKA card with you to the test. A score of 22 or above will permit you to collect a Leistungsnachweis and to register for your higher level study modules.
