Introduction This interdisciplinary lecture is divided into two parts. The first part consists of several lectures starting with a summary of important aspects of systems biology in general and continuing with a profound introduction to the immune system. In the second part, various mathematical modeling approaches are discussed in some detail and applied to selected topics of immunology. Participants do not have to be an expert in mathematical modeling and do not have to be an expert in the immune system. The idea is that, whatever is needed from immunology and from mathematics, this will be presented in the lecture. Interested students will have a background in biology, bioinformatics, physics, or related disciplines and are generally interested in the immune system and in the mathematical modeling of this complex system. The lecture takes place at the Leibniz-HKI, Adolf Reichwein Strasse 23, on Fridays between 8:30-12:00 in Building A8, Seminar Room Gauss (second floor).
The first lecture will be held on April 14, 2023. Please register for participation by sending an email to Prof. Dr. Marc Thilo Figge (thilo.figge@hki-jena.de) before March 27, 2023 including your name, student number, direction of master study and number of semester have been obtained.
