This course will analyze the contemporary regulatory processes of global security, with a focus on counter-terrorism trends. This includes the evolution of sanctions regimes, the measures adopted against the financing of terrorism, as well as the evolving practices dealing with foreign terrorist fighters (FTF) and the prevention and countering of violent extremism (P/CVE). Accordingly, the UN counter-terrorism machinery will be studied in conjunction with the several interactions it entertains with coalitions and networks, like the Financial Action Task Force (FATF) and the Global Counterterrorism Forum (GCTF).
Due to overlapping appointments the session on January 24th has to be cancelled. To substitute for the cancelled session the courses on December 13th, January 3th and January 10th will start at 2:00 pm and end at 4:00 pm.
