The course aims at introducing the students with the main theoretical and historical concepts regarding Yugoslav and post-Yugoslav cultures and literatures. The focus will be on reading of the primary sources (fiction), but the methodology of the course demands permanent contextualization, that is information on the history of the country of Yugoslavia, Yugoslav socialism, political and cultural background of the crisis and the dissolution, but also the so-called transitional period in the post-Yugoslav societies. Depending on the language competences of the students and the availability of the readings in translation, the more precise list of authors will be discussed together in the beginning of the course, but some of the ‘must-read’ authors would be Dubravka Ugresic, Danilo Kis, Bora Cosic, etc. |
