In the past, seminars in this module focused on one aspect of intermediality, e.g. adaptation or comics or film or music etc. This time, I will take a broad approach, and we will explore intermediality itself, at present one of the most important topics in our discipline. We will read theoretical texts on the different forms of intermediality, e.g. ekphrasis (usually the literary approach to pictures and art, but lately also extended to movies), adaptation, music and language, comics, and videogames, and then discuss some exemplary works and the specific form of interaction between the respective media. A curriculum will be provided in the first session, but there may also the possibility to decide on particular examples in class.
The seminar will take place in person, and, according to the latest information, the German 3G rules (vaccinated, recovered, or tested) will apply. |
