This seminar examines aspects of the history of the frontier in Canada. The course will focus on major themes and debates in frontier history and frontier historiography, including, but not limited to, the history of colonialism, settlement, and Aboriginal-settler relations. It will introduce students to the methods and mechanics of researching the Canadian frontier with a focus on writing and critical analysis. The course fosters the acquisition of the competences required to conduct historical research with a particular focus on evaluating primary sources.
