This course will give an introduction into the large range of biomolecular methods that can be used to study the archaeological record. Each week, we will focus on a different technique and its application. We will cover the use of stable isotopes to investigate diet, mobility and palaeoclimate as well as more recent advances in the study of ancient proteins and ancient DNA. Finally, we will consider best practices with regards to sampling strategies and ethical concerns when destructively analyzing archaeological remains. |
