The course is not only aimed at political science students, but anyone interested in participating in high-level English conversations on current events and topics are general enough that everyone can participate, regardless of your level of political knowledge. Topics range from the current status of the EU to questions of privilege to ethical issues such as black market organ trade. |

Leistungsnachweis |
The final grade is based on participation and attendance as well as an oral exam which takes place either the last or second to last week of the semester.
Successful students, who fulfill all course and exam requirements, will receive a graded certificate of participation with 3 ECTS points. Check with your exam office (ASPA) to find out if these credit points can be counted as part of the "Allgemeine Schlüsselqualifikation" module. |
Lerninhalte |
This course is designed to focus as much on student speaking time as possible. Each class is broken down into three parts:
- students read, listen to, or watch a text, podcast, clip, etc.
- students break off into small groups for discussion time
- the last part of each class is devoted to going over grammar structures and any other speaking issues that need to be addressed.
Topics range from the current status of the EU to questions of privilege to ethical issues such as black market organ trade.By the end of the semester, students should leave the course feeling more comfortable speaking spontaneously in English and more confident in their English language skills. |
Zielgruppe |
This course is for students at B2 level or above. This means you have an upper-intermediate level English (8 years or more of English in school).
