Nowadays, the settlement of major commercial disputes at a national level - and even more so at an international level - is predominantly carried out by arbitral tribunals, rather than state courts. Insofar as such disputes are directed against states themselves, they regularly have political, constitutional and international legal significance. The lecture provides basic knowledge of national and international commercial arbitration, as well as investment arbitration. It is aimed at interested German and international students in advanced semesters, as well as graduates, and is intended to impart at least a basic knowledge of the arbitration system. Guest lecturers will also speak on individual and especially current topics. A mock hearing will take place at the end of the semester - also in preparation for participation in moot courts. A certificate of attendance will be issued for active participation. |
