Shifting from intercultural learning to transcultural learning, from a focus on English-language “target cultures” to global issues, EFL pedagogy and “didactics” have seen a sea change in recent years. In this course, we will discuss these recent changes and examine how some of the most pertinent global issues can be dealt with in the EFL classroom: migration, global inequalities, global economies, the digital age, climate change, social divisions, questions of identity etc. How are they negotiated at the individual, regional, national and global levels? And how can we tackle them in the classroom?
Participants are invited to choose a “global issue” and present teaching options in cooperation with other students.
Regarding the oral exam requirements, please consult our homepage. Details will be announced in our first session. |
