Feminisms and Constitutionalism in Latin America
In this seminar, students will be acquainted with contemporary studies on gender, feminisms and law, with an emphasis on the evolution of these studies in Latin America. Furthermore, the idea is to explore how feminist social movements have challenged and impacted on law and constitutionalism in the region, and beyond, as well vice versa, that is, how law has shaped social fights for the recognition of fundamental rights.
This seminar is planned as a cooperative effort between Professor Rodiles and Professor Ana Micaela Alterio, one of the leading experts on the relationship between feminism and constitutional law in Latin America, and will be held in English and Spanish. The exact ratio of teaching units held in each language will depend on the language proficiencies of the registered students. Therefore, please register both via Friedolin as well as via email with Tim Niendorf (tim.niendorf@uni-jena.de) and indicate whether you are proficient in both languages or just one of them. Also indicate the language requirements of the certificate you intend to obtain at the end of the seminar since this will determine in which language your exams have to be taken. For example, if you require this seminar as a course held in Spanish you have to take all graded exams (essay, written exam, presentation and/or oral exam) in Spanish. The types of exams you have to take is, as always, determined by the regulations of your respective study program.
An organizational meeting will be held in presence on 11th April from 3pm to 5pm in room 1096, CZS 3 (Multimediazentrum). The seminar itself will be held in person between the 22nd and 26th of May. |
