International conferences such as the World Model United Nations that simulate the United Nations offer a unique opportunity for students to immerse themselves in multilateral diplomacy. The World Model United Nations (WorldMUN) is held annually in a different location around the world with more than 2,000 students from over 115 countries. Participating in the WorldMUN delivers insight into the work of a diplomat and is essential for students who plan a career in international organizations. WorldMUN will host its next conference in Paris (France) March 12 – March 16, 2023.
This seminar is open to dedicated and motivated FSU students who will join the 2023 WorldMUN delegation. In three compact courses, students will familiarize themselves with - the work of the United Nations (including the simulated conference committees),- the policies and perspectives of the assigned country,- the issues to be debated at the conference,- rhetorical skills,- and the rules of procedure of the conference.
- 11./12.11 2022
- 09./10.12 2022
In addition to the seminar, there are two excursions to acquire in-depth theoretical knowledge in sample simulations:
- weekend excursion- January 2023: Participation in the Heidelberg National MUN Heidelberg University, Link: http://www.worldmun-hd.de, expected number of participants: 100-150
- day excursion- February 2023: Visit to the embassy of the assigned country and to the Foreign Office and the embassy of the host country (France) .
Logistics such as public relations, fundraising, and travel arrangements will be discussed in addition to the seminar. The seminar will be held in English and can be attended without participating at the WorldMUN. Funding will be provided through external funds; an individual co-payment is required for participation. In an orientation session (October 10, via Zoom), students will receive detailed information about logistics.
Application deadline: If you would like to be part of the delegation, please register via Friedolin and apply until October 16, 2022 with Curriculum Vitae & Letter of Motivation to firstname.lastname@example.org.
This year there are only 10 places in the delegation! In addition, you are welcome to participate in the seminar.
