Sovereign States and Justice in a Global World - Einzelansicht

This class explores the international system of sovereign states from the perspective of international political theory and international law and justice. Special attention is paid to the legal form, the operation, the scope, and the limits on sovereignty in contemporary system. After the introductory part in which we discuss the historical development of the system of sovereign states and concepts developed to describe and analyze it, we turn our attention to issue areas which determine the content of state sovereignty in contemporary world – human rights enforcement, humanitarian intervention, refugee protection, indigenous rights, trade with natural resources, and governance of global commons.
