This lecture (and accompanying seminar) surveys the advent of a Canadian nation in 1867. It also considers the major economic, political, and social developments in Canada since that time. Through an analysis of primary sources, essays, texts, and film we will examine continuity and change in the development of Canada and in imaginings of “the nation” over time.
