Differential operators form a ring and the action of differential operators on functions may be viewed algebraically as a module over this ring. This suggests to study more generally D-modules, i.e., modules over rings of differential operators. The resulting theory lies at the intersection of algebra, geometry, and analysis and has important applications.
The goal of the seminar is to familiarize the participants with several elementary, yet fundamental results of this theory. |
