This seminar closely follows “Hauptpositionen der Ethik” in course content. The broad goal is to learn methods, practices, and standards of thinking and writing as an ethicist. Topics include: finding research topic, narrowing topic, judging and presenting relevant evidence, reading critically, formulating hypothesis and argument, drafting an outline, recognizing fallacies, doing literature research, writing the ethics paper/thesis, using research and writing tools, revising drafts, and the processes of publishing. This is a praxis-oriented seminar and participants are expected to submit weekly written assignments and to work in groups. Submitted work may be in English or German.
