1) Workload:
This is an intensive course, and students should allow for an average of five to six hours of private study per week when making up their schedules.
2) Level:
It is assumed that students taking Academic Writing I have a command of the English language that approximately corresponds to level B2 ("upper intermediate") of the Common European Framework (CEF). Throughout the semester, students are expected to work towards making the transition to level C1 ("lower advanced"), which, in subsequent courses, is to be extended to the level of C2 ("near native").
