Englisch C1 - Conversation - Einzelansicht

This course will help students communicate appropriately in a variety of settings. The emphasis will be on participating in longer conversations, and communicating in non-routine situations.  

There is no course book; handouts will be supplied.

A small charge will be made for copying.

Payment made within the first three weeks of semester (irrespective of public holidays)

Your language level is appropriate to the course (see below: Target group/Zielgruppe).

Successful completion will give you 3 ECTS points. Check with your exam office (ASPA) to find out if these credit points can be counted as part of the "Allgemeine Schlüsselqualifikation" module.

Assessment is based on:

1. fulfilling the active participation requirements
2. passing the end of semester oral exam.

Students will have opportunities to develop their vocabulary and grammar skills as well as practice pronunciation through group exercises that explore world and national news, health, education, politics and more. Integrated vocabulary lists, photos, and captions help students develop comprehension and critical thinking skills.  

The course provides communication practice in four main areas:

1. The various kinds of oral interactions, including impromptu speaking, conversation and discussion and job interviews
2. The idiomatic English associated with such communication
3. Accurate pronunciation, stress and intonation patterns in English
4. Critical listening skills for professional contexts

The course is designed for students who wish to upgrade their conversational skills in order to continue their education or improve their employment opportunities. Abitur level English would be a starting point. (For non-German students, this means you have taken English to the highest level of school exam)
