Englisch - B2+ - Reading and Vocabulary for Political Science and for Social Studies (inkl. LA für Sozialkunde) - Einzelansicht

Please note that this course will start on the second Friday of the semester.

On the first Friday of the semester there will an open appointment for any student of the Politcal Science Institute to take the reading test. You will find more information about this from the Insitute's website. The results of this test will be published before the course starts, thus allowing you to try the test before you decide if you want to participate in the course.

You may register for this course and drop out if you pass the test on the first Friday.

We will use online resources and journal articles that you will select.

Successful completion will give you 3 ECTS points and a confirmation that you have reached the required level to continue in your higher semesters.

Assessment is based on:

1. fulfilling the attendance requirements (present for 80% of classes)
2. passing the end of semester exam, which will cover both academic vocabulary and a reading test.

We will focus on strategies to improve your range of academic vocabulary and on your ability to read and discuss journal texts in your field of interest.

The vocabulary activities will be based on online resources. Meanwhile, you will choose a text that is relevant to your current studies and mine it for vocabulary and content in order to present the key concepts and lead a discussion about your chosen topic.

This course is for students of Political Science and Lehramt Sozialkunde. For these courses you need evidence of reading skill at B2 level.

If you have tried and failed the Reading Test for Political Science, you are strongly advised to join this course

If you simply want to improve your reading skills, you are welcome to join the course as long there are enough free places.
