Term paper (50%; submission after the first third of the lecture period) as well as presentation (25%), co-presentation and participation in the discussion (25%) during the seminar sessions (in the last third of the lecture period).

Each part of the exam is graded and must be passed individually. The overall grade is the weighted average of the partial grades. Due to changing seminar topics, all parts have to be performed again in case of a possible retake of the exam.

The exact course of the seminar and the exact structure of the partial performances will be announced in an introductory session at the beginning of the course.

Seminar (2h per week)

The seminar will reflect current topics in international economics.

The students are practiced in writing a scientific paper. In particular, they have mastered the structuring, selection and presentation of suitable material as well as the processing of existing scientific literature and the writing of a scientific paper. Furthermore, they are trained to give a scientific presentation, to critically examine their own work as well as the work of the other participants and to participate personally and actively in the oral discussions in the seminar. Thus, they have a basic understanding of critical thinking in the subject of economic policy and beyond.

The learning objective of critical discussion skills requires seminar participants to be present and actively participate in the discussion. Admission to the examination therefore requires regular attendance (in case of absence due to illness or overlapping with other compulsory dates, this must be reported immediately to the person responsible for the module and proof or credible evidence must be provided accordingly). In case of absence without corresponding proof and in case of too frequent absence - with regard to the achievement of the learning objectives - the admission to the examination can be refused. Further details are regulated by the examination regulations or the examination board.
