Inhalte

The course deepens skills in academic writing and scientific presentations. Students work on selected topics in economic theory and the economics of innovation and write a term paper. Current research topics are discussed and integrated into the relevant literature. The approach taken by students may be formal-theoretical or empirical. The term paper has to be presented and discussed. In addition, students prepare a critical discussion of a term paper by another seminar participant.

Lern- und Qualifikationsziele

Students have the skills to write an academic research paper. In particular, they know how to search for and identify the relevant literature, structure a topic, select appropriate models and/or empirical approaches and critically assess them. Students are able to present their own research and provide constructive feedback to their peers.

Voraussetzung für die Zulassung zur Modulprüfung

The learning objective of critical discussion skills requires seminar participants to be present and actively participate in the discussion. Admission to the examination therefore requires regular attendance at the classroom events of the module. If students are prevented from attending due to illness or overlapping with other courses, they must report this immediately and provide evidence or credible proof of this. Details are regulated by the exam regulations or the exam committee.
