This course focuses on improving your confidence in using English to read about and discuss legal issues. It is primarily a language course not a law course. Active participation will help you to improve your legal vocabulary and become aware of some key cases in English Law.
Successful completion of this course will also fulfil the language requirements set out in your study regulations.
You will complete the course successfully if you:
- Attend min. 80% of classes.
- Complete the assignments.
- Pass the final assessment with a score of at least 51%

In order to enrol for the final exam you have to:
- Participate in class, don't miss more than 3 classes.
- Complete the homework assignments.
- Present a landmark case in class.

- reading/listening to short texts about several aspects of law, such as contract law, tort law, criminal law and others
- text comprehension exercises
- language-focused exercises to help increasing your active legal vocabulary
- discussing legal aspects and landmark cases
- student presentation of famous cases (UK and US legal system)
- law in practice parts

This course fulfils the requirement in §16(2) S. 1 Nr 3 ('Sprachenschein'). It is intended for students of Law who need to achieve the minimum requirement in order to continue to their higher semester studies (Fremdsprachennachweis).
Other students who wish to practise or improve their English are welcome to join us. |
