Current Trends in psychological science regarding good scientific practice - Einzelansicht

Zulassung/Admission:

We offer priority to students in the CPCN (kognitive Psychologie und kognitive Neurowissenschaften) master, but we also admit students from other specialties. In the last semesters, there were enough places for all students who were interested in this seminar.

This Seminar is for students of the Master Course Psychology. The credits of the course can be used for either of these modules:

“Methoden der Evaluationsforschung (M-PSY-A102)” OR “Methoden und Diagnostik der kognitiven Psychologie und Neurowissenschaften (M-PSY-MDKN206)”

This course will be held in English.

There will be a written or oral examination at the end of the course on the contents the sessions. Requirements for taking part in the examination:

(1)  regular and active participation in the sessions

(2)  one session lead per student (paper presentation/leading of discussion – details in the first session)

In this seminar, we will explore the current state of the art in good scientific practice, including perspectives from psychological science, neuroscience, and evidence-based intervention research. We cover topics such as pre-registration, data sharing and documentation, ethical considerations, design standards such as power analysis, data analysis and visualization, but also principles of publication and report writing. This course will convey a basic understanding of the scientific process. We will discuss why certain standards are necessary to ensure good scientific practice. At the same time, we will critically reflect on how they should be applied in a meaningful and profitable manner.
