Neuropsychology of auditory processing - Einzelansicht

Zulassung/Admission:

We offer priority to students in the CPCN (kognitive Psychologie und kognitive Neurowissenschaften) master, but we also admit students from other specialties. In the last semesters, there were enough places for all students who were interested in this seminar.

This Seminar is for students of the Master Course Psychology. The credits of the course can be used for either of these modules:

- Schwerpunkt Kognitive Psychologie und kognitive Neurowissenschaften: Modul "Neurowissenschaften" (MPSYKN201) ODER Modul "Klinisch-psychologisches Ergänzungsfach" (MPSYA106KP)

- Schwerpunkt Klinische Psychologie, Psychotherapie und Gesundheit: Modul "Allgemein- und neuropsychologische Grundlagen" (MPSYKP205) ODER Modul "Klinisch-psychologisches Ergänzungsfach" (MPSYA106KP)

This course will be held in English.

There will be a written or oral examination at the end of the course on the contents the sessions. Requirements for taking part in the examination:

(1) regular and active participation in the sessions

(2) oral presentation of one session (details in the first session)

In this seminar, we will discover the fascinating complexity of our auditory perceptual system. Along different types of stimuli, including voices, music, and environmental sounds, we will discuss their processing in the brain alongside with associated and sometimes highly specific impairments in acoustic perception. In that vein, we will discuss review papers as well as experimental studies on behavioral as well as neuropsychological findings in the field of acoustic perception and link it to our everyday personal experience.
