This English-language seminar is primarily intended for students of the MSc specialization in Cognitive Psychology and Cognitive Neuroscience (Modul M-Psy-KN202: Informationsverarbeitung). It may also be taken by students with relevant interests and backgrounds from the BSc/ MSc Nebenfach (e.g. B.A. PsyN-WP3) and international students.
The aim of the course is to provide an overview of current psychological and psycholinguistic thinking about language and communication.
The focus of the course is on active discussion: together, we search for, read, discuss and work with a broad range of journal articles. In most cases, topics can be chosen by the participants; they could include, for example, how language(s) are learnt, how words and sentences are processed in the brain, and the challenges of research on dialogue and interaction. If you have any special interests in these or other related areas, feel free to contact me in advance.
For those students who need a grade/mark for this course, the requirement will be to submit an essay (max 10 pages) on a relevant topic of your choice by the end of the semester (30 September).
