Teaching Grammar and Vocabulary
This course offers a survey of teaching grammar and vocabulary in the EFL classroom. A general discussion of the uses of grammar and vocabulary skills will be followed by a classroom-oriented outline of inductive, deductive and alternative approaches. The Presentation-Practice-Production model (PPP) will be under scrutiny, as well as different and less frequently applied models of teaching and learning. We will additionally focus on a selection of key vocabulary fields and grammatical items with regard to “tried and tested” teaching methodologies.
All course material will be provided on Wordwise. This is an online course, featuring (mostly) synchronous communication via weekly zoom meetings.
You will be asked to submit short group assignments to our course management platform (Moodle). A term paper, integrating your group assignments, will have to be submitted by the end of the semester.
