"Britain in the Brexit Era" - the title suggests that the lecture will deal with British politics of last three or four years. But actually that would be not quite enough to understand what has happened and what the reasons for the British policies towards Europe have been. Therefore we will go back a little further and explore what the reforms of the British constitution during the New Labour government were and how they changed the framework in which politics take place.
The lecture is designed as a "Ringvorlesung" in which distinguished British and German experts will speak on different aspects ot the general topic. The German experts will actually come and lecture. However, to save time, money, and on the ecological footprint I will do a skype-interview with the British experts before the lecture which will be recorded and shown in the lecture. If everything works out as planned the British particpants - renownend scholars such as Rober Hazell (University College London), Tim Bale (Queen Mary University London), and Matthew Flinders (University of Sheffield) have already agreed to participate. |
