The Security Council (SC) is not only a main organ of the United Nations, but one of the most powerful bodies of the international legal order. However, the current war against Ukraine has put its efficacy and even raison d’être into question. SC reform has acquired new momentum, and the ancillary powers of the UN General Assembly have experienced a remarkable evolution in recent times. The course will first concentrate on the history, composition, and functions of the SC, and subsequently focus on its current challenges and possible changes. |
