From intercultural to transcultural learning, from a focus on English-speaking "target cultures" to global issues, EFL pedagogy and "didactics" have undergone a sea change in recent years. In this course, we will discuss these recent changes and examine how some of the most pertinent global issues can be dealt with in the EFL classroom: migration, global inequalities, global economies, the digital age, climate change, social divisions, questions of identity, and so on. How are they negotiated at individual, regional, national and global levels? And how can we address them in the classroom?
Participants are invited to choose a "global issue" and present teaching options in collaboration with other students.
Please check our website for oral exam requirements. Details will be announced at our first meeting. |
