In this seminar, we will use numerics to gain a deeper understanding of strong-field laser physics than provided in the lecture. We will simulate the motion of electons in a strong-laser field by solving Newton's equation of motion, and then extend upon it by adding effects such as tunnel ionization, electron scattering and interference.
Prospective list of topics of the bi-weekly seminar:
- Motion of a free electron in continuous and pulsed fields
- Tunnel ionization rates
- Simple man's model of strong-field ionization
- Electron recollision and backscattering
- Interference effects
- High Harmonic generation and phase matching
